About Isle View

Isle View is a purpose built, single storey nursing home located on the outskirts of Aultbea village in the Highlands of Scotland. With stunning panoramic views of Loch Ewe, Aultbea Harbour and beyond, the main lounge is the heart of the home.

Wild mallard, herons and occasional otters visit the duck pond and an abundance of wild life including red deer and buzzards are often seen from the bedrooms. A dining room, a quiet lounge and TV lounge compliment the living space and provide our residents with an opportunity to watch films, socialise and meet and greet family away from their bedrooms. Paintings and drawings by residents and staff add colour to the public rooms.

We offer 24 hour nursing care to up to 25 residents. This includes the option of couples sharing in our twin rooms. Our residents come from the local community and also from across the Highland region and the rest of the UK. Isle View Care Home is only 45 minutes from Ullapool and less than an hour and a half from Inverness.

A fully qualified Registered General Nurse (RGN) runs each wing and reports to the registered manager daily. Each RGN has a dedicated team of carers and nurses who know our residents' requirements, capabilities and personalities intimately. Our staff are predominantly recruited from the local area and many have grown up in the community and have family members residing at Isle View. We also have long term staff via the Home Office. A plan of care is individually tailored to a residents' needs and regularly reassessed by the primary nurse. The carers responsible to the primary nurse will deliver that care.

The 23 bedrooms are divided between 3 wings. All bedrooms feature an orthopaedic powered bed, ensuite facilities and nurse call buttons. Residents are encouraged to personalise their own rooms with furniture, pictures and mementoes. All bedrooms have views of the private gardens, terrace or across the Loch to the Isle of Ewe.

The safety of residents is a top priority at Isle View. All bedrooms, bathrooms and lounges are fitted with a nurse call system. A call will be answered quickly. Fire regulations are strictly adhered to.

Our care philosophy is simple: We aim to maximise independence, treat our residents with the respect and dignity they deserve and encourage a lifestyle of their choice. We organise church services (all denominations), painting and drawing classes, music nights, sing-a-longs and quizzes. Opportunities are always there to enjoy the fresh air. Visitors are welcome at any time. The level and type of care we must provide has changed over the years. We now need to adapt our activities to individuals who have very different needs and interests. This can mean more one-to-one activities.

We are committed to providing the highest standards of care with "Very Good" overall SCSWIS grades including "Excellent" scores. We are regularly inspected and our care reports are available to view on our website. Staff training is a priority at Isle View for 2016.
